Some approaches to investing can be considered speculating, or gambling, with your money.
Single stock picking. Attempting to time the market. Even choosing a mutual fund based on the reported past performance.

Investing should be viewed and approached as a long-term discipline. Taking short-cuts or being "hasty" in the process could be very damaging to your financial health.
